    Big Bear Drill Rod Grease®

Earth Pro Big Bear Drill Rod Grease is a high-performance grease formulated with additives to protect against corrosion, wear, and oxidation, which features enhanced thickness and extreme-pressure capabilities.

    Bio Bear Drill Rod Grease

Earth Pro Bio Bear Drill Rod Grease is a biodegradable blend of naturally sourced oil and non-toxic surfactants that can be used to lubricate the outside of drill rods or as grease for slides on rod handlers. It is an environmentally friendly alternative to heavy metal mineral oil greases and contains no heavy metals that could contaminate core samples.

    Linseed Soap

Linseed Soap is a lubrication grease that can be swabbed inside inner tubes, incorporated into drill fluid using a suction hose applicator, or added to holding tanks through water spray flushing.

    Nikal Thread Lube

Nikal Thread Lube is a high-grade anti-seize and gasket compound designed for challenging conditions and extreme temperatures. Formulated with pure nickel flake and an inert dispersing solid in an aluminum complex base grease, it delivers reliable protection against rust caused by water penetration or wash-off.

    Thread Shield

Earth Pro Thread Shield can be applied to effectively seal threads in drill rod connections, providing dependable thread protection. Its unique non-metallic components are engineered to facilitate smooth assembly and disassembly of drill rods while protecting threaded surfaces from damage.

    TurboCut

Earth Pro TurboCut is a liquid lubricant designed to deliver continuous lubrication for rods, drill bits, and downhole tools within a water-based mud system. TurboCut helps maintain consistent tool lubricity, which can extend tool life and minimize the frequency of rod trips for greasing and re-greasing.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use the same lubricant for all drilling applications?

Not always. Different drilling applications may require different types of lubrication products depending on where and how they are used.

For example, drill rod greases such as Big Bear Drill Rod Grease and Bio Bear Drill Rod Grease are used on the outside of drill rods, while products such as Nikal Thread Lube and Thread Shield are designed for threaded connections. TurboCut is a liquid lubricant intended for rods, drill bits, and downhole tools within a water-based mud system, and Linseed Soap can be swabbed inside inner tubes or added through drill fluid or holding tanks. Using the right product for each application helps ensure proper lubrication and equipment protection.

Can using the wrong lubricant cause issues?

Yes. Different lubricants are formulated for different uses, such as lubricating drill rods, protecting threaded connections, sealing threads, or providing continuous lubrication in a water-based mud system.

If a product is used in the wrong application, it may not provide the intended level of lubrication, adhesion, or thread protection. Choosing a lubricant based on your drilling conditions and application helps ensure the product is used as intended.

Will lubricants wash off in wet drilling conditions?

Some lubricants are formulated to maintain adhesion in wet conditions.

For example, Bio Bear Drill Rod Grease has shown better wet rod adhesion than some heavy-metal fibrous greases in field trials, and its wash-off values are comparable to Big Bear Rod Grease. Choosing a lubricant suited to wet conditions can help maintain coverage and protection on rods and related components.
