Earth Pro AE 851 (Partially Hydrolyzed Polyacrylamide – PHPA) can be used as a viscosifier, clay inhibitor, and flocculant to promote water clarification when fresh water and brine drilling.
As a flocculant, Earth Pro AE 851 is normally used in concentrations of 1.0 L/30 m (3 singles) of hole drilled (holes larger than 222 mm will require higher concentrations).
As a PHPA shale inhibitor the filtrate concentration of Earth Pro AE 851 ranges from 0.5 kg/m³ for slightly hydratable shales to 1.5 kg/m³ for moderately hydratable shales. Gumbo shales may require concentrations as high as 3.0 kg/m³.
