Control Cement Contamination With Sodium Bicarbonate From Di-Corp Before It Affects Fluid Performance
Cement contamination can increase calcium levels and raise the pH of drilling fluids, creating conditions that may affect overall fluid performance. Sodium bicarbonate helps manage this issue by precipitating calcium as calcium carbonate and reducing pH in drilling fluids above 8.5.
As a pre-treatment for drilling hard cement, 22.6 kg of sodium bicarbonate will treat approximately 1 cubic foot of cement. When green cement is anticipated, 2 to 3 times as much sodium bicarbonate may be required. This industrial-grade chemical compound can be added directly through the hopper and should be handled with proper dust and eye protection.
Sodium bicarbonate (NaHC03) is commonly known as Bi-Carb, Baking Soda or Bicarbonate of Soda.
