Di-Corp congratulates 2022 Don Peteherych Bursary Recipients

Calgary, AB, Canada, May 30, 2022 – Di-Corp is pleased to congratulate the 2022 recipients of the Di-Corp Don Peteherych Bursary. The annual bursary, valued at up to $3000 per recipient, is awarded to as many as three continuing students who are enrolled in either Chemical and Petroleum Engineering or Oil & Gas Engineering at the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering.

The annual bursary was created to honour the memory of Don Peteherych, a former partner in what has now become known as Di-Corp, and a memorable force in the oilfield service industry of western Canada. In addition to these bursaries, Di-Corp also funds awards at other Alberta post-secondary schools including Mount Royal University, University of Alberta, and SAIT polytechnic schools.

The 2022 UCalgary recipients, who each receive $2,625, are Matthew Cochrane and Michael Svoboda. Both are students at the Schulich School of Engineering at the University of Calgary.

Upon hearing of his award, Matthew, who is studying toward a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, said “Thank you for the award this year. Coming off my internship, I have learned a lot about the oil and gas industry and the ever-growing competitiveness of the field. As a result, I have undertaken more schooling to make myself more attuned to different positions. This award will help me strive towards my personal goals, as well as my goals to help the oil and gas industry achieve a greener future, whether that being a full transition to alternate energy sources, or a pivot to greener blue hydrogen energy. Thank you for your support and belief in me.”

Michael, who is studying toward a Bachelor of Science in Oil and Gas Engineering, said, “I was thrilled to learn of my selection for this honour, and I deeply appreciate your kindness. I am about to finish my final year of my petroleum engineering major and have just started an internship with CNRL as a production engineering co-op student. I hope to pursue this line of work and have a positive impact on the environment and our society by conducting our work in a responsible and safe manner. The financial assistance you provided will be of great help to me in paying my educational and living expenses, and it will allow me to concentrate more of my time on studying. I personally have an avid interest in data analytics and aim to pursue this by trying to expose myself as much as I can to experts and learning as much as I can from them.”
