Calgary, AB, Canada, January 23, 2024 – Di-Corp is pleased to congratulate the 2024 recipients of the Di-Corp Don Peteherych Awards with the University of Calgary (U of C). These awards were created to honour the memory of Don Peteherych, a former partner in what has now become known as Di-Corp, and a memorable force in the oilfield service industry of western Canada.
The annual Don Peteherych bursary with U of C, valued at up to $3000 per recipient, is awarded to as many as three continuing students enrolled in either Chemical and Petroleum Engineering or Oil & Gas Engineering. The 2024 U of C recipients, each of whom received $2,5000, are Abhijeet Menon, Mardia Mumtahina, and Jackson Penner. All three are Chemical Engineering students at the University of Calgary’s Schulich School of Engineering.
“I am writing this with immense gratitude to express my heartfelt thanks for the incredible opportunity you have provided me as an international student from Bangladesh. Receiving the Don Peteherych Bursary has had a profound impact on my life and those of my family,” writes Mardia Mumtahina. “Your support has not only transformed my life but has also set me on a path towards making a meaningful impact on my community and the world. I am committed to working diligently to honour your investment in my education and future.”
Abhijeet Menon had this to say: “As an international student, there is a lot of burden on us with expenses in a new country. You make it slightly easier on us and allow us to be happy. Thank you.”
Di-Corp was honoured to establish the Don Peteherych bursaries after Don’s passing in 2009 and are pleased to continue honouring his memory by supporting students who will continue to grow the Canadian energy industry that Don so loved.
